As state support for higher education continues to decline, the need to boost U.S. competitiveness in science and technology has only increased. Private philanthropy plays an increasingly important role in allowing TACC to continue to offer the local, state, and national research communities the best computational resources and technologies available.

Ways to Give

There are many ways to support the Texas Advanced Computing Center. Donors may make gifts by check or credit card. Some donors may prefer to make a gift of appreciated stock or mutual fund shares. We are happy to provide a variety of ways for you to donate to TACC.

  • By Mail with a Check

Gift Types
  • Annual Giving
    Unrestricted gifts to TACC through the UT Annual Giving program provide essential funding for the areas of greatest need at the center. Your gift to TACC help ensure that the center will continue to offer world class resources and services, innovative research and development activities, and groundbreaking education and outreach programs.
  • Designated Gifts and Pledges
    In addition to Annual Giving support, donors may wish to support TACC through a designated gift to one of the center’s defined areas of emphasis. Often made over several years, designated gifts can directly fund construction, salaries, operating budgets, and at the highest levels they can establish endowments that generate sufficient annual income to fund programs in perpetuity.
  • Future Support
    Including TACC in your retirement and estate planning allows you to provide crucial support for advanced computing, education, and research, while diminishing your own tax burden. Did You Know?

  • Over 1,000 faculty, researchers, and students from over 30 UT Austin departments conduct research using TACC resources.

  • TACC resources support over $100 million in externally funded research at UT Austin.

  • TACC currently operates Lonestar, the largest computer for open academic research in the U.S.

  • In December 2007, TACC will deploy Ranger, the world’s largest supercomputer.

  • TACC is working with researchers in areas of critical interest to Texas, including emergency response, flood and climate modeling, weather prediction, water tables, reservoir modeling, conservation research, alternative energy sources, and seismic imaging for more accurate oil discovery and drilling?
